Français: This month we will work on the complex sounds on and ch. We will continue practicing winter vocabulary including winter activities. We will continue writing simple sentences following a given model.
Math: We will continually work number sense with numbers to 100 until the end of the year. We will also build on our math skills to solve simple addition questions and word problems. We are also learning about how to identify, extend and create 2 and 3 element patterns.
Science: We will continue our unit on the 5 senses.
Social: We will continue to learn about groups (communities) we belong to and our role in those groups.
To celebrate our 100th day of school, students are invited to dress up as a 100 year old granny/grampa! As well, each student is asked to bring in 100 of one of the following items to create a special 100 day mixture. Please have your child count out 100 pieces (in English or French) and bring it to school in a Ziploc bag. Your child could count out 10 groups of 10 to get 100. Don't forget to wash your hands before counting! Suggested items include: pretzels, nuts, corn nuts, Bugles, raisins, Smarties M&Ms, Skittles, cinnamon hearts, jelly beans, pumpkin seeds, jujubes, fish crackers, Glosette raisins, chocolate drops or any other snack-like item. Thank you for making our 100th day of school a great one!
As Valentine's day is quickly approaching, I will be sending home a list of names of the students in our class. This will give your child time to write out Valentine's Day cards for their classmates which we will exchange during our class party on Valentine's Day.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
