Curriculum to be covered:
Français: We are finished the basic alphabet sounds and will be working on complex sounds. This month we will work on é, in and on. We will start learning winter vocabulary including winter activities. We will continue writing simple sentences following a given model.
Math: We will continually work number sense with numbers to 100 until the end of the year. We will also build on our math skills to solve simple addition questions and word problems.
Science: We will be starting our unit on the 5 senses.
Social: We will begin learning about groups (communities) we belong to and our role in those groups.
Home Reading will be changing a bit but I will include a letter with your child's home reading duotang that outlines the few changes. In a nutshell, I will no longer ask that Home Reading be returned on Wednesday but rather when you have had your child read the book on three different occasions. I still ask that you return Home Reading completed once a week. The books that will be sent home are no longer ones that we read as a class, your child will be reading these books without help of YouTube videos. Please see the letter that will be included in your child's home reading duotang for more clarification and as always, you may email me with any questions you may have.
We will be going skating as a class on a few days in February and March, we will require volunteers to help lace up skates and supervise on the ice. Once I have the dates, I will put them in a Weekly Reminder and if you are available to volunteer, please contact me. I will provide more information when we have confirmed our ice times.
We also are in need of volunteers for our French Book Fair. If you are able to volunteer, please contact me. The dates and times we need help are Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31 3-4:30pm. Thanks in advance!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
